>>14670783I gotta say, the climax of this game really surprised me.
The grunts for Team Flare were pretty ridiculous. They clearly had know idea what was up and it made the whole team look like it was kinda aimless and goofy. Lysandre, though, was fairly intense by Pokemon standards. Sure, it was a fantastical and unrealistic goal, but compared to the likes of Cyrus and Aqua/Magma he actually had some shockingly realistic reasoning for his plans. It maintained the fantasy element of the Pokemon franchise with the whole magical soul-powered nuke from days of yore business, but his explanations of his view of human nature are pretty sobering. The concerns about resources and overpopulation, focus on humanity's tendency to squabble over resources, and his sadness at the reality that Pokemon only add to such conflict...I know it was designed to be all-buzzword-strike-a-chord type stuff, but it kinda worked. There were a few lines about how people will always fight if there is something that cannot be shared and how the balance of power prevents true advancement...damn.
Plus, I think the whole genocidal "rebirth" of the world plan is pretty insanely villainous, plus a lot more visceral and dark than Galactic's "new universe" plot.
