Does anybody else feel like there's just too many damn pokemon available in the regular playthrough? I'm fucking heading to the second gym and a bagon jumps out. I just fuckin figured out my team and now I have to deal with this shit.

This. The EXP Share is really good if you want to use more than 6 Pokémon in one playthrough. Game's still easy as fuck though

Definitely, man. I planned on only using Kalos Pokemon on my first playthough, but too many of my bros from previous gens were available and I couldn't resist. The only Kalos Pokemon I have on my team are Greninja, Vivillon and Tyrunt, and the only Kalos Pokemon I have in general are those three, Honedge, this clam-like thing, and something else I can't remember.

Yes. All the Pokémon games ever.
If you want to play like a fucking casual and not box every Pokémon that has levels higher than the trainers on routes you can't complain about the game being easy.

I kinda know what you mean. I assumed the new Pokemon would be everywhere and old Pokemon a little few, so my team is mainly new Pokes. Then I run around and find ALL these old Pokes everywhere.

If I had known it was like this, I would have chosen differently.

Are you me? I can't leave the area without finding that rare Pokemon. Took me 3 hours yesterday to find Croagunk, and I'm sure it'll take the same amount of time to find Bagon.

Fuck you, there is never "too many".

This is finally the first time where there is a vast number of pokemon to keep replaying the damn thing over and over. The new pokemon thing is disappointing though, but that is because there aren't many new pokemon in the game anyway

Were you looking for it at night? I spent about two hours trying to find one and I found nothing. I tried again in the morning and they were everywhere.

because it was just so much fun to get a tiny little bit of experience every time a fucking tentacrap jumped out when you're surfing (and of course that's pretty much all you'd get with little variation) and spend all your time walking around and around in tall grass to get your pokes up to the level of the next gym.

It was farcically tedious; now you can just get on with the storyline.

To be fair Pokemon games have never really been hard. The only times I remember having any trouble in Red was Brock and Misty because I chose Charmander. And that was when I was young and too stupid to actually raise any other Pokemon besides my starter.

Kinda. I keep looking at my dex and thinking 'damn, I need to go back and grab him, him, and him'. Eventually I just move on. It's particularly frustrating when the dex says a pokemon I want is in a particular location, but all that pops out of the grass is every other mon in that area

B-but it's not like they force you to use them. You should release your inner autist and impose rules on yourself. That's what I do anyway. You can be 8 levels below the gym leaders, run like three pokes weak to them and still defeat them with planning because lel AI.

Obvious drawback is the inability to fly

Once I get to the elite 4 I have to pick 2 from each team and make my team of MVPs to wreck the E4 with.

I like that by the time I finally get every poke from an area, I can rotate the team with multi exp so all the ones I captured before are now fully evolve or at least overleveling hte area already.
Makes dex completion way less tedious.

I like using at least 3 new pokemon for every gym. You don't pick your stars, your stars pick themselves.

New exp share promotes this kind of stuff, though you do still get EV-screwed.

Are you crazy? The big ammount and variation of Pokémon is one of the best things about this game. In the first patch of grass alone I was happily surprised I could catch up to 7 new Pokémon if I looked around hard enough, before I even got to the "how to catch Pokémon" tutorial.

Every route seems to have its own rare surprise Pokémon you might not expect, and it really sparks the collector maniac inside of me.
