Usefulness-wise.

Design-wise, I'd say Alakazam or Medicham have the best. Again, Kengaskhan falls off here.

Talking strictly from a design standpoint, the ones I like are Alakazam, Gengar, Kangaskhan, Houndoom, Mawile, Medicham, Bannette.
It pains me that some of them are megas, because Banette and Mawile would have made for great regular evos.

Don't care much for stuff like Lucario or Tyranitar.

Ability = sub/sash breaking band. Good all round stats. Moves that capitalize on ability to wreak havoc. Awesome design.

I think most of the Mega Evolutions seem pretty good so far. You've obviously got the top tier ones like Gengar, Garchomp, Mewtwo, Blaziken and Alakazam, but even the Kanto starters will probably jump up a tier from their Mega Evolutions.

Mega Mawile is my fave though, cool Fairy/Steel typing and Huge Power. Worst? Uh probably Mega Venusaur just because it loses Chlorophyll and that hurts it more than Thick Fat helps.

I wish there were more Megas like Kangaskhan. I don't mind the SUPER POWERFUL SPIKY version Megas, but the idea behind Mega Kangaskhan is awesome.

Wish there were more that fit directly into the lore without necessarily changing how things look.

Garchomp has to be one of the worst for the sake of losing Garchomp's biggest assets.

Is the Evo enough to compensate the loss of a Choice item to serve as a revenge killer or Focus Sash for lead slaying? What about Black Sludge for Substitute shenanigans?

Yes, considering now it's so much better of a revenge killer with Shadow Tag.

It's basically Dream World Chandelure, except 30 points stronger and 50 points faster with STAB poison for fairies
