OP's idea is dumb, but he's got the right idea.
i'm convinced that the massive shit comes from people who want cool pokemon for zero effort.
the obvious flaw is that freshly hatched cool pokemon are level 1.
I just approach WT with the intention of sending pokemon out into the world, making peace with the fact that I might not get anything interesting at all.
If you get a nice boxload of pokemon to disperse into the world, it can be kind of satisfying on its own.
besides, when you start out fresh, getting all of those shit pokemon is a good head start on filling out your dex, and the odd interesting pokemon helps make the game interesting.
I got a japanese Zangoose that I still use.
