Gourge has 4 sizes, small, medium, large and supersized

small has noticeably lower base stats than supersized.

You most likely had a small one

I think nature would be anything that lowers special attack or speed in favor of something else, preferably attack or special defense because it already has a lot of defense.

I'm currently using an Impish Super-Sized one with EVs in sDef and HP and its been working well for me. Shadow sneak makes up for her lack of speed when faster opponents show up.
