If this show is as properly run as any other series created solely for merchandising, the director probably has a committee or board of people higher than him that he must answer to. I know that's why Shudo quit all of those years ago during Johto, due to creative differences between him and management.

The writers aren't planning on pairing him with anybody; this will last until the end of XY when Serena gets booted to promote the next games, and the entirety of their interactions won't be dominated by some shipping undertones regardless of whether or not they make it a part of Serena's character.

Misty didn't get with Ash, May and Drew never got together, and Kenny didn't get with Dawn; you guys should know the patterns by now.
