I played on my brother's Pokemon Red first, although I hardly understood what was going on. That's why I consider Sapphire as my first Pokemon game and it's the one that I've played the most and know the best (although I do think that Emerald is better).

pretty much.
Kanto is covered in X/Y, BW/BW2 is going to have Pokebank and Johto was remade not long ago.
The only option left in terms of remakes is Hoenn.
It's only the Hoenn pokemon that aren't available through the DS games natively.

Groudon Kyogre can be traded up from HG/SS come deceber.

No remakes are "needed" at this point. Any remake done now will be for nostalgia sake/money

But you can easily trade them up to the DS games using Pal park. Sure it's a fucking hassle, but everything you catch in your Gen3 cartridge can make the long trip to Gen 5, and soon 6.

I think a Hoenn remake would sell for sure. You've got long time fans who would buy that shit regardless like us, and then you've got the younger ones who's first game was Gen 3.

At this point, with the new 3D models and all. They could remake Gen I/III/IV and people would eat that shit up.

I know but because it's such a hassle it's the most likely to get remade.
Johto can be traded from HG/SS easily, Kanto is available in XY, and BW/BW2 have it easiest with Pokebank.

I always thought they where glorious. My first pokemon game was Blue, but damn it if my favorite isn't ruby. Actually it would be emerald now. Got my first pokemon to 100(swampert) on that game and spent all of my post game training my pokes in that town with the electric gym and the daycare. Hoenn is special to me as it strengthened my bond with my older brother too. I mean fuck I still play that game from time to time when I'm bored and I still enjoy it.
Still have Blue too, but after you get Mewtwo there is really nothing left. (Blue still amazing though) muh nostalgia
