So just how broken is Mega Gengar now that it's got Shadow tag and base 130 speed and a SpAtk boost? Think he will be banished to ubers? Movesets?

Currently using Modest Gengar (F) with Maxed out Speed and SpAtk EVs

[Megastone]
Levitate/ Shadow Tag (meg)

Sludge bomb (looking for a way to get sl wave)
Aura Sphere
Shadow Ball
Destiny Bond / Parish song

If switching takes place before Mega Evolution then anybody can switch in a counter before Shadow Tag comes in.

Will Mega's create a tier higher than Ubers?
I just looked at them; Scizor, Heracross, Gengar, Alakazam and both Mewtwo are fucking insane.

There's no reason to use M-Scizor over regular Scizor, Heracross is actually pretty bad and got a near useless ability and Gengar, while damn good, is a little overrated (by "overrated" I mean "yeah, he'll probably go Ubers, but won't wreck shit over there").

Mewtwo is the only really retarded one, but it's Mewtwo, so whatever.

Not TOO broken.

If it aims to Shadow Tag you, switching happens before the ability kicks in.
If Gengar subs up in the hopes of Mega evolving and then coming back later, then there are more ways to deal with substitutes now.

Not ideal counters but he's at least not Chandelure levels of bullshit.

I will be using him though, alongside a Shadow Ball Zoroark.

Megascizor is basically lifeorbscizor without losing his health and is only slightly weaker than banded scizor and can actually switch attacks. It's clearly better than either.

given that Tyranitar has 100 base SPD, its pretty nuts

throw out ttar against megagengar and he is immediately pursuit trapped. Pretty sure pursuit will be a OHKO

Did anyone mention the mind games Gengar could play now? Imagine if your opponent sent out Gengar and you switch out for some fodder pokemon or an Assault Vest TTar fearing the Mega evolution. But then it just happens to be Sub Disable Gengar or LO Gengar.

In theory it's good, but not as easy to pull off.

You really want one Mega in your team. You're only gimping yourself if you do not.

And Gengar is one of the very, very few that can do that. If you see an Absol, Mawile or Blastoise, you can be pretty damn sure that that Gengar is not holding a Mega Stone.

Your opponent sends in Absol? Mega Stone. Charizard? Mega Stone? Gengar? You can't be certain.

You have to remember that using a Mega Stone means NOT using a Life Orb/Leftovers/Choice item.

The Mega Evolutions have inflated stats because they're basically fighting with no items.
