I'm being serious here. There's over 700 now, and how many do we actually care about? Would anyone care if we woke up tomorrow and Qwilfish or Linoone or Pachirisu or Unfezant never existed?
Maybe for the next generation, Gamefreak can cut the number down to 300, 400 at most. Get rid of the unnecessary bug and normal type Pokemon you always find at the beginning of the game, mix up the starters at the beginning of the game, and get rid of some of the legendaries. No use of them being rare if everyone can get a dozen.
TL;DR Would it kill the Pokemon guys to make the number of Pokemon easier to handle?
