I've tried putting two Protean Froakies in the day care, but all I'm getting is Torrent. I tried with a Torrent and a Protean after that, but I'm still just getting Torrent.

Does the Everstone I gave to one of 'em affect this or anything? I don't really know why I'm not getting any Proteans.

you might just be getting bad luck. So long as the female (maybe the male?) has a hidden ability it can pass on

Yeah, but they both had the hidden ability. I tried hatcing like 30 of them. I'm starting to think it's the Everstone, but I kinda need that for the nature.

again, really bad luck.

I was breeding Protean Froakies, using a modest protean female with an everstone.

I usually get Protean but a lot of Torrents want to mix in there.
