Jesus Christ I had to abuse savestates just to beat this guy in Emerald. I barely made it.

I thought Pokémon games were easy. Is emerald just harder than the others? Or am I just god-awful at a kid's game?

If you chose Torchic is relatively normal, although savestates are still a bit too much.
If you picked anything else you just suck at pokèmon.

Yeah Manetric was the one causing me problems. None of my pokémons had good moves to damage him, and his Shock Wave two-shotted all of them. Then if I get him down to yellow health, the sitrus berry kicks in. Fuck this faggot.

I know how you feel then, I could always nab a Geodude, but that would be wasteful EXP on a fodder.

Wattson is the only gym I would have trouble with Torchic in my playthrough. The rest would either fall to Blaziken or my other Pokemon.

Every now and then you have to deal with a a high tier pokemon at lower levels.

This is why Milktank was such pain pain in 2nd gen. It had much higher stats compared to anything else you could have at that point in the game.

He's a problem if you picked Treecko (since lel no moves until leaf blade). Marshtomp has Ground-typing and STAB Mud Shot while Combusken has STAB Double Kick.

I picked Treecko and I remember that I had to level him up until he learned Leaf Blade to beat him.

Norman was pretty tough too. I went in underleveled since I thought Protect is good enough. I ended up beating him with last pokemon, my HM slave Spinda.
