I don't think they'll get rid of Amie. I mean hell, they've been pushing the pokemon affection feature since gen 2 and this is hands down the best way they've come up with for earning it. Nothing beats actually handling and playing with your pokemon. I believe this feature will be safe for future gens.

Tip for getting Affection quickly:

1) Pet the Pokemon until they stop giving hearts.

2) Feed the Pokemon until it doesn't want to eat.

3) Play a game a few times. I prefer the Tile Puzzle because it's quick and easy. I can do it between 9 and 20 seconds, so doing it five times doesn't even take two minutes.

4) Repeat.

i find the one where you bounce balls of yarn easiest because you can get into a rythm, but pretty much pick your fave game and do the hardest level shit tons of times and then stuff those pokemon with those sweet, delicious deluxe puffs. i got a few of my pokemon up to full affection in no time that way.

Friendship and Affection are separate. As far as I know Affection doesn't effect stuff like Espeon/Umbreon evolution or the damage done by Return.

Amie affection has a buttload of side effects if it's high, from landing crits more often, healing status effects, or even acting as a Focus Sash sometimes.

Maybe some of us just don't care? It's kind of cute I guess when I maxed Tyrantrum's affection, but it's the same pet -> feed -> minigame -> rinse and repeat in the end. Not that there's anything wrong with everybody having fun with this little feature.

The positives only occur during regular battles, in online battles and in the battle facilities they have zero effect

Once you've beaten the main game the only reason to do amie is to get the exp boost
