I've named every starter I've ever gotten "Speedy" after my late mother's old Typhlosion that she named that. She gave me Crystal when I was about five or so and a Gameboy Color. She was a fair bit into the game and let me have it and her old save file when life got too busy for her to keep playing.

So yeah I don't have that problem.

On a side note, I'm always most happy with Pokemon names when they mean something. I got Pokemon Silver when I was like 8, and named my Cyndaquil Clay Jr. (my name is Clay) and it knew Cut all the way to level 100. So when I got SoulSilver, the name was Clay and it knew Cut the entire game.

Just pick a random letter to begin with and go from there, that's what I do with all my pokemon I don't immediately know what to name.

I think it fits him really well, It's kinda funny since I still can't remember his middle evolutions name/ barely remember chesnaught as it is, so I decided to not to nick name any other Pokemon untill I get used to their actual names.

I love nick naming, but things started getting out of hand when I couldn't even remember their actual names.

I used to get my mum to level my pokes when I was gone. She became fond of Chikorita and started to refer to me and my brother as her chikorita's as she thought it sounded kinda like 'latina' for chicks which is what she used to call us.

Now she is gone and I always try to get a chikorita in my team. This time I called chespin Chikorita though cuz was not thinking
