I've got a Haunter and am going to wait for a friend to evolve it, but I want to grind up my team. Will I lose out if I evolve it later, or does it matter?
I looked on Serebi and it looks like the abilities that it learns do not change at all when it evolves. Does it modify stats or anything?

Aside from learning moves earlier (sometimes you only get certain moves without evolving), there's no benefit to waiting.

With haunter, it doesn't matter. With some Pokemon - mostly those that evolve with stones - you can miss out on some moves if you evolve too early. There's no stat loss or anything by evolving early/late.

It doesn't work that way. Once you evolve, the stats are adjusted to your level, and that's that. There's no "gains per level" bullshit.
