I drove 50 miles to buy it at 9am the next day. There was no midnight release, the population/preorder numbers weren't high enough or whatever. I drank with a buddy the night before, woke up at 8, got my bearings, went to the store at 9am. There was 2 women and 3 men there, one was the typical frightening neckbeard type, loud and obnoxious about everything. I got both games, a LE 3dsXl and a 2ds (so I can play both genders, trade at will back and forth, give the 2ds to my Girlfriend later, etc) and gave the neckbeardo mcweirdo the poster so he didn't have to buy the second game (he was complaining loudly). He and his father thanked me (yes, his father drove him to get the game even though he was in his 20s)

I was at Gamestop too, my friend. I picked the wrong one, however. The one I went to had about 5-6 people in line the entire first hour picking up their copies. The Gamestop closer to my house, however, was packed all day. One of the employees told me that it had people in it all day battling and trading. He said that one of their employees even started handing out his personal shinnies at one point.

I preordered it on a whim while preordering GTA5, which I also drove there to do just to give the employees some more preorder numbers since their jobs depend on it. Driving there also gives me an excuse to see my friends in that town. Any guaranteed delivery date bullshit from any service or website will not make it to my door the day it says it will.

There was waaaaaay more people at the midnight release at our gamestop than I was expecting. Like, easily 200 people. It was outrageous. It was a lot of teenagers and 20-somethings, like 1 or 2 kids with their parents, and even a few people dressed up. A good amount of neckbeards but there was surprisingly a bunch of normal-looking people and dudebros in line too.

Someone I work with said he saw a player from the North Dakota State football team picking up a copy of Y at a store across town and even talked to him while in line. Like, this is a guy who was a starter in the FCS national championship twice. Playing pokemans. Fucking incredible.

Some group of faggot high schoolers(?) in trenchcoats formed a line and we had the displeasure of standing behind them.
All of them took forever to pay, and bought both X and Y so it took fucking forever.
God I hated those fucking kids. They wouldn't shut the fuck up, and were spouting hilarious internet memes, and the 3 males in their group were such scrawny looking shits.

Pretty neat actually.

I made some makeshift friends, we played Mario Kart to pass the time. Invited people from the line of like 60 or so. Chatted it up. There was hardly any neckbeards, but there were a few autists here and there.

All in all it was pretty awesome. Also streetpasses.

I went to one. Got there at 8pm with a friend, both of us are 20.
In front of us were these high schoolers who said they were there since 3PM. It started out as 8 of them then some how they managed to have a group of 15~ of them. They were the worst ones. Yelling all night, drinking their shitty energy drinks, pushing each other around in shopping carts and into the road.
Everyone else for the most part were normal and sane, around college age and there were a few kids that were calm.
I ran into a ton of old friends from high school, I ended up sticking around for another hour after I got the game just to catch up with them.
In the end it was enjoyable to some extent 7/10 would go again

Got about 70 streetpasses, none of them had puzzle pieces though and they couldn't do shit in Find Mii II. A lot of their Animal Crossing houses were trash too.

Ended up going the second day at gamestop, but might as well been a release party. Place was backed, the tvs were marathoning pokemon movies, and everyone was streetpassing each other. Very pleasant atmosphere, actually, people in line were talking about what starters they wanted and the cashiers were giving out beginners advice and tips.

there were about 300-400 people at the Game in Plymouth, which is not bad considering we don't have night buses or anything like that.

There were a lot of students, a few under 16s with their parents, a few 30s and over people like me and I didn't see one neckbeard or mouth breather.

Some like me had made an effort and dressed for the occasion too, I was wearing some clothes I had added the Sylth Co logo to but there were a few folks cosplaying as various pokemon characters.

Got some strange stares from parents and neck-beards who watched me get off and get in-line. Guess people don't expect a guy riding a Harley Davidson to play a Japanese game with a target demographic age of 10.

Same here. Everyone was awesome as fuck and it was great to see 3 generations of people lining up and waiting so eagerly to buy the games. Makes you realize what an important and influential franchise Pokemon really is.

Also, the sheer amount of streetpasses I got that night was ridiculous. Must have completed like 10 puzzles.

my boyfriend and i went to the release in Houston. Jam packed and hella loud. maybe 50 people. mostly neckbeard redditor types. some decent high schoolers and a few normal girls too which was nice.
it went pretty smooth but im really shy so my boyfriend did most of the socializing. i did have a nice convo with this really sweet but really quiet college aged girl. we bonded some but i didnt get her fc.

the main problem was this really obnoxious euphoric redditor asshole. he might be one of you /vp/ assholes because he was half yelling "SNEAKY PEBBLES LOL" all the damn time. he wore this beanie that looked like it hadnt been washed in like 5 years, a cheap duster and fingerless gloves even though it was early October in fucking Texas. and ill bet money his "hero" is Heath Ledger's Joker. maybe Rorschach. you know those types.

he was just meandering around spouting internet memes and being your average faggot. i remember my boyfriend wanting to go fuck with him and i didnt want to and i made comment about about how "im not ONLY here to intimidate the nerds lol #Grrrlgamer" and euphoriabro turned around and was like "THE GAME IS WHAT MATTERS NOT THE SOCIAL SCENE" and it was very bizarre because he wasnt involed in our conversation.

anyway he got X and hung around to fire it up with this gaggle of bronies.
i parted ways with shy qt and my boyfriend and i got our copies and left.

A teenager about 17 in a fedora got in a yelling match with a kid who looked about 8 behind him. It started out with him enacting that super saiyan power up thing you'd do in elementary school and he guffawed like an evil villain.

By the time the game was released the yelling had gone on for 15 minutes and they had devolved into yelling potatoes at eachother.

Didn't have access to internet until 9 that evening so couldn't play because I needed to update 3ds. Got new leaf at a wal mart the next day with my leftover spending money. Still haven't played new leaf yet still hyped up on Y.

There was no midnight release here, but when I went to the store in the morning there were only neckbeards in their 20 buying the game. Not a single kid was buying the game.

There were like only 2 stores in Toronto that had a midnight release. This one independent game store that was farthest from my home had a better reputation apparently so I went there. waited 2 hours while some kids had a Pokemon characters SSBB touney. I won a game case in a raffle and chatted with some cool dudes.
