I've heard there are new breeding mechanics this gen and was hoping someone could fill me in.

In the meantime, I have a box full of 31 Special Attack and Speed Staryu of varying natures if anyone wants to trade, any reasonable offer accepted.

Holding a destiny knot ensures that 5 IVs can get passed down from either parent instead of just 3!

Males and females can now reportedly pass down hidden natures if they have them, as well as egg moves!

Those are the biggest game-changers, not sure if there are any others. If there are I'm sure someone else will let you know!

If a parent is holding it, the offspring has chance to inherit up to 5 IVs from BOTH parents, similar to if they held EV items, but with a much larger range and somewhat luck-based.

The friend safari makes everything a whole lot easier if you know someone with ditto, since all pokemon found in the friend safari are guaranteed 2 max IVs

If you catch a whole bunch of them with the proper IVs, it's simple from there on out, keep breeding until the offspring inherits more and more IVs

I'm in the middle of breeding with a safari caught Ditto which should have 31 IVs in strength and HP. Gotta work out the Feltch's IVs though.

Basically the implications of the new mechanics make your entire box of Staryu next to worthless. I can't imagine why anyone would settle for less than 5 perfect IVs.
