Yeah as long as Talonflame is alive, Blaziken will never sweep. Neither will anything with a flying weakness, really.

Chandelure walls both its STABs as well, regardless of his boosts.

Blaziken can learn EQ, so Chandelure and Tentacruel can fuck up his STAB but still can't do anything else.

Slapping a Balloon on Shadow Tag Chandelure might help a lot.

Yeah, by 1-2%. The KO figures remain the same.

Also, Aegislash is PREDICTABLE. It WILL use King's Shield against Mega Lucario predicting a Crunch.

Which means any Mega Lucario player will just use Swords Dance.

If Aegislash responds with Shadow Sneak, it not only fails to do any appreciable damage it dooms itself.

Smogon has already run the numbers. Aegislash isn't much of a counter to Mega Lucario.

even though mega blaziken will be in ubers, its not really better than normal blaziken. being mega isnt what makes it uber

that being said, its very easy to deal with if you have the right guys

talonflame, mega blastoise, forrettress, slowbro, landorous t, togekiss can all deal with it. there are many more options

Yeah, I saw that thread. Basically, Aegislash is stuck. If it does King's Shield and MLucario does SD, even if the second one succeeds (a big if) it's only knocking it back down to +2. If it fails, Lucario OHKOs (252 HP/252 Def Aegis is 2HKO by +2 Crunch) it.

And interesting dance. The Aegislash player could try to do Sacred Sword anticipating a predicted SD.

But that's risky, because of the Crunch that may be coming.

Greninja and Aegislash are overrated as hell

Greninja despite being tricky and STAB everything is made of glass and cannot take a hit it won't stay in OU very long

Aegislash is so fucking predictable I Can take it out with no effort.

Aegislash could still stay OU despite being overrated but all this hype that Greninja is getting will die off once people realize how glass it is. Might not even make it into UU

if you dont get how gale force beats blaziken 100% of the time, there is something wrong with you. blaziken could be at +6 attack and +6 speed and talonflame still kills it

there are many ways to deal with blaziken. sure, speed boost is too good for OU, but that doesn't mean i t's some unstoppable monster that can never be defeated

sturdy forretress can explode and fuck it up, btw

Greninja doesn't hit no where near hard enough its not going to be OU sorry. I thought it was going to be OU as well when I first heard of it but once I actually battled against it I could see its shortcomings.

Because Lucario carries Crunch to rape ghosts.

Aegislash has no healing options, and it relies heavily on King's Shield to operate well. The whole point of the move is to cripple physical attackers. The problem is that this makes him predictable.

Aegislash will do King's Shield to ruin M Lucario.
M Lucario player will just SD instead.

In that situation Aegislash players have a very difficult choice. Guess that the other player will use SD and respond with Sacred Sword, or guess that Crunch is incoming and use King's Shield.

If they fuck up and use SS, they're going to lose a ton of health they can't get back (even in defense form).

And due to the way King's Shield works, they can't simply throw it out constantly because it'll just fail.

In the case we're talking about now, 'Slash players will do Sacred Sword on Lucario predicting the SD setup.

+4 M Lucario w/ Adaptability is something most players will seek to stop.

That's where the problem comes in. If they mispredict and do KS next turn it's only down to +2, and the turn after that KS might fail. I ran the calcs and +2 MLucario 2HKOs the bulkiest 'Slash build with Crunch.

So even in that scenario they're left with a crippled sword and board. IMO, a switch out is best.

The reason they're not recommended is because they're mathematically less likely to be consistent, and pokemon in sims especially is played on a ladder basis where your rank is determined by the aggregate of your wins and losses, not just the one. What's the point in running walls or tanky pokemon, even counters to Blaziken get OHKO'd or 2HKO'd. The entire metagame revolves around power creep and there is no check to it. People love it though, they like winning with their Blazikens and hate stall strategies that require understanding match ups, timing and out-predicting your opponent with switches.

Even the super defensive new awesome megas get absolute shitstomped by the offensive ones, and happen to be put in types that are weak them (like Steel or Bug) this is a major fuckup on GFs part and they should have made way more defensive pokemon that actually WALL pokemon so there's actual strategy in the game beyond "Hurr durr, I guess I'll Close Combat this turn"

I've been using Wood Hammer, Phantom Force, Earthquake and Growth

Growth and Earthquake are still pretty experimental but I find Earthquake does help him out alot. Why I choose Phantom Force a two step move over Shadow Claw is the fact its stronger and cannot be blocked (Goes right through Protect, King's Shield, etc.) It actually works well.

He works great with Harvest Sitrus Berry as it keeps him around 60% almost all the time

the thing about megas is that first off you can only really use one per team which honestly makes them a really interesting mindgame in their own right but more importantly most of the super offensive megas are just more powerful versions of already offensive pokes, when you look at a lot of the other stuff added there're tons of defensive options that didn't exist before

While in Ubers his STABs are nearly unresisted, he doesn't have the bulk or resistances needed. Oblivion Wing heals for 75% of the damage it causes, but he takes hits really poorly.

Also, Xerneas' massive advantage over the rest of the tier is going to force him into OU.

i don't think flare blitz can OHKO pinsir and then 2 quick attacks + recoil would have knocked it out.

Tell me what will he be walling exactly? Zubats?

Should have given him an ability called ultimate defense, doesn't take any SE damage.

Also Filter reduces the damage he takes from SE moves by 25% not reduces the damage of SE moves down to 25%. It's a huge difference.

Only effective counter to these megas is just to throw enough Pokes under the bus until it faints and hope you have a team left when the dust settles.

Sableye was a check to physical pokes not named Blaziken before, but not now, the power is so high he gets shat on at 50% less attack.

Same with Prankster Charm from Whimsicott

Gale Wing can sometimes if rocks aren't up suicide himself to kill Blaziken/Lucario.

But it looks like under any normal circumstances most teams don't have effective answers, you have to get lucky and revenge kill them while they're picking off your team members 1 by 1 because they slaughter even resistant pokemon due to not being locked in by Choice items to have the insane power of Gen V

It's not a counter unless you can switch him in on Blaziken and prevent him from fucking you over. Fact is you can only safely switch in after Blaziken starts killing your pokemon.

There's no strategy anymore in hyper offensive metas, just speed races.

naw dude, it doesn't do enough damage in OU
it has good stats but its movepool is really kinda lackluster and its speed is too low to be a top OU sweeper, something people forget about is that OU is actually faster than ubers in a lot of cases with the exception of like m2, darkrai and shaymins

What do you think of Zoroark, Malamar or Greninja (Protean)? Are these viable to stop a Ghost?

I guess Zoroark could fake being Aegislash to bring out Ghosts and wreck them with Dark Pulse/Night Daze.

Zoroark only works if you do it correctly but he will stop Ghosts as it hits fairly hard

Malamar is awful, even with Contary

Greninja is alright for Ghost killing, don't expect it to take a hit however

Greninja isnt used entirely for a dark type, its used to hit several pokemon in their weak points. Zoroark is alright but its gonna get rekt by blaziken

My suggestion for a dark type is mega gyarados, that thing is such a beast.

And the last spot, I'm divided between Zoroark (faking Aegislash) or Greninja (with Dark Pulse). I'm not sure who's better.

I'd recommend a Protean Greninja if you can get one, as a general pivot and potential spikes layer/ghost checker. I've never actually used Zoroark though so I have no idea what kinda stuff he's getting up to in this gen.
