I was curious and wanted to ask, how badly are perfect IVs required. I really like battling and wanna battle online, but I don't wanna deal with IVs. I can easily get proper natures, moves through breeding, and EVs, but IVs are the last thing I wanna put up with. On that same point, what are the chances we're getting a Pokegen for gen6, and do you think GF will ever do away with them.

Depends on the pokemon. Sometimes another 10 iv points don't really make or break a battle

Perfect IVs aren't absolutely required, but it's always better to have them. Also, getting perfect IVs in multiple stats is considerably easier to do in gen 6 because of the friend safari and destiny knot.

at a minimum pokemon who rely on speed (sweepers usually) need 31 speed ivs so you don't get outsped by other pokemon with the same base speed

Usually, only Spd and sometimes HP (if you need to reach a certain HP with a set amount of EVs) are needed to me maxed. You can get by with using sweepers with less than 31 IVs in their offense stat and tanks/walls with less than 31 IVs in their HP/defense stat. You can easily play competitively even without IV breeding. However Game Freak made it easier to IV breed this gen with Friend Safari giving Pokemon (including Ditto) with at least 2 31 IVs, as well as making Destiny Knot pass down five IVs from the parents instead of the usual three. Putting in a little bit of effort can actually net you some perfect IV sweepers and tanks without massive dedication this gen.

>>14867580 Pretty much this. Most Pokemon don't really need perfect IVs in more than a couple stats. It doesn't hurt most of the time, but it isn't really worth the work.
