Why does gamefreak keep jerking this shit off? More importantly, why are they under the impression that Ice is a tough enough type to ALWAYS be considered E4 or one of the last two gyms?
Why won't they stop making Dragon masters as #4 members?

They've still never had a dark gym for any generation. 4 elite 4 members though. Fairy gets a gym straight away.

Someone posted a graph earlier showing just how bad this is.

Gen 3,4, and 5 had water gyms.

3 gens in a row.

Gens 3,4,5, and 6 have Electric gyms
4 generations in a row

On the gym front that's pretty fucking bad when Dark has NONE.

On the E4 front, Dragon has been part of every Elite 4 except for Sinnoh and Kanot, IIRC.

Some types, like Fire, Ground and Bug have only been in the E4 once or twice while Psychic and Ghost are constants.

Ghost in particular is interesting.

Gen 1 - E4
Gen 2 - Gym
Gen 3 - E4
Gen 4 - Gym
Gen 5 - E4

Mind you, it wasn't until Gen 4 that Ghost type had more than a few members.

Well, she was intended to be Ghost, anyway, but functionally, there was only the one ghost line (which was also poison).

And all her other Pokemon are poison.
Although the same could be said for Lance who uses all flying types. Lance at least says he's a Dragon "Master".

Almost. Remember that Cynthia's signature pokemon is Garchomp. If the region doesn't have Dragon gym or E4, then at least your most powerful opponent has to be Dragon.

Fair enough; however her total number of dragons does not exceed two so I don't really count her as a dragon trainer. Rather just a trainer with a mostly phenomenal lineup and solid type coverage.
