extremely good idea with interesting characters and really fun designs bogged down by shitty rivals trying to hoof in MUH FRIENDSHIP themes and ends up getting pushed and squashed into the near endgame. It could've been waaaay better, I hope Z expands on it more.

It had alot of ideas but they didn't really execute them as well as they could had. AZ should had been involved alot more before the end of Team Flare. Though I LOVED the fact people acknowledged you as a hero and the champion. Every other game you save the region and world from getting fucked sideways and the most you get is a thank you from a major NPC and that's about it. Even after the parade plenty of people in Kalos know of your exploits.

Is it possible to lose that battle to AZ?

Please. Lysandre is fucking awful. Most of his dialogue was preaching bullshit to the point that he never felt like a human being. And his "views" were barely fundamented in the first place. The pokemon world is an utopian world already and never do we see any sort of shortage in anything, except his own Team Flare robbing others.
AZ amounted to nothing in the plot and if he wasn't there, nothing would've changed.

Gen 5 had the best stories out of the mainline pokemon games.

If they wanted to make his points feel valid, they could've shown something convincing, but they never did, it was all talk. And that left him as a one-dimensional character that clearly didn't have much thought put into him.

Well on the Eggs thing, even Cynthia is shocked when you and her witness the birth of an Egg during the Arceus event in HGSS - it seems people in that world are legitimately confused about the origin of Eggs. In these games we're even given further insight to the Eggs, with an NPC that says Pokemon Eggs aren't like real eggs, that they're just capsules that hold the Pokemon more or less.
