The one thing you should always avoid is edges of fields when chosing your patch of grass, not because these are technically 'bad bushes', because they can have your pokemon in it, there's just a chance the next 4 shaking bushes will spawn 'off screen' and that is what will break your chain, so take the risk if you want, but don't be surprised

I go back and forth on my bike in front of the day care- when I hatch three eggs (two remaining) I box the pokemon, and then gradually pick up the next three while the first two hatch. That way I never have to wait a full egg cycle.

So far what I understand I have to do is
- Turn on radar
- Move on moving patch (unless it barely makes a sound or doesn't move a lot
- If its pokemon you want, kill it
- next moving grass should be the same pokemon, kill it again
- Repeat till shiny

I just did some chaining for the purpose of experimenting and I actually had pretty damn good luck ignoring the whole distance thing and just going for the most violent patch. I chained long enough that I'm pretty damn confident that patch shake type is way more important than distance now.
