because I still love pokemon, the new region and new characters and new mons were a blast, I'll still transfer all my pokemon from W2, I'll still occasionally sit and try to hatch a shiny

it was well worth the money I spent on the game, I just prefer to do battling over simulators

Basically my pattern for every gen, but usually have master and grinder cartridges, and do self trades with my brother's GB/GBA/DS. But he didn't buy a 3DS, and I ain't gettin' two

Breeding near-perfect Pokemon with 5x 31 IVs and a good nature, as well as egg moves.

Wonder Trade the rejects. Usually, with several boxes I get at least a couple pokemon I haven't caught yet, so I slowly fill my dex that way.

I then train them up and do wifi battles. After I get bored with them I make more master race pokemon and try them.

Working on a perfect IV Marill.
Progress is going a lot faster than I had expected.
The fact that any wild baby Pokemon have 3 31 IVs is amazing. I managed to catch an Azurill with 4 31 IVs.
Couple that with Destiny Knot and some specially picked Safari Dittos and I'll be there.
Then there will be a couple boxes until I get the one I want.

Just finished my perfect Dragonite. 31 atk ivs and speed ivs, adamant. Just sad because I forgot I needed to breed extreme speed on. Still wondering what to replace with it. Just need about one more run on easy modo on the battle mansion for that item that changes abilities.

Despite what 90% of /vp/ will tell you, simple EV training on good-natured mons will be absolutely fine for any NPC content and also most online WiFi battles. You really only need the perfect IVs if you're looking to go pro.

Since Mothers can pass on egg moves now to some degree, I am going to attempt to get some Moxie Jolly Pinsirs with quick attack and close combat.

I have obtained a ditto with 31 IVs in HP, both defenses, and special attack. And another Ditto with 31 in Attack and Speed.

So through some careful inbreeding and destiny knot and Power item swaping, I should be able to do this.

I will probably have plenty of extras and I will have a give away thread to celebrate when all is done.

Pokerus included.

While a non-perfect-IV mon would certainly be weaker than its identical perfect-IV mon counterpart, couldn't one reason that in practice non-perfect IVs on one pokemon still don't hold its viability back even if its opponent has perfect IVs? I mean, if the typing is right, and if you employ the right moves, couldn't you theoretically manage against a wholly different team even if your IVs were imperfect and theirs were impeccable?

I just fully EV trained a modest Sigilyph before realizing it needed to be an Xatu/Sigilyph offspring before it could learn Cosmic Power and Stored power.

On the bright side, the Xatu I caught from the Safari has perfect Def and Sp.Def IV's so it's not all bad.

I'm also leveling an Adamant Azumaril I got from a kind soul on /vp/.

Also I am leveling a Scyther so I can use it to False Swipe wild Safari pokemon if the Quick Ball doesn't catch them.

Went and bred up multiple boxes of Minccinos until I got a Shiny. Now I'm trying to go from my house all the way to the Elite Four using nothing but six randoms I got from Wonder Trade. If they faint, I release them. I cannot replenish unless I've reached a Pokemon Center, to which I have to catch something and immediately Wonder Trade it for something new. I can only replenish once per Pokemon Center, and I can only visit each center once per day. Beyond that, it must be through glorious battle, especially jewing of the rich fucks at Battle Chateau and selling of berries for that precious little dosh.

I'm having a blast now. I'd restart the game and do this, but I have too much pride to send in a bunch of shit-tier Pokemon into WT.

There seems to be a common misconception that if you don't have 6 perfect IVs on all your pokemon, you're at a terrible disadvantage competitively. Yes, it does play a role sometimes (think about all the sub-10 HP survivals you've experienced), but it's rarely the key factor in a battle. The only true make-or-break IV is speed, because even one point advantage means you move first 100% of the time, rather than 50% if it's a speed tie or 0% if they're one point faster than you. The rest are nice to have, especially attack on attackers, but non-critical a lot of the time.

Stats are only one part of the battle. Team composition and prediction play a much larger role assuming you aren't using a bunch of shitmons with bad base stats.

I've already gotten as far in the battle Maison as I think I'll ever get (16 straight wins in Super Single Battles) with my OP team, and I caught Mewtwo and Zygarde in both versions.

I don't feel like trying to catch the legendary birds, I don't wanna catch em all and there's really not much else to do, the E4 doesn't even get a level increase when you face them again...

Really not too fond of these games. They're not bad, but by Pokemon standards they're not very good. Only slightly better than Black and White I'd say.

That's exactly why I breed for perfect IVs. My favourite shitmons need every possible advantage they can get in order to fail even slightly less horribly.

I haven't played Pokemon since first gen, so I'm trying to catch up on all the stuff I know nothing about.
