Looks like you unlock more buyable stuff if you get more medals in PGL. Thoughts? Still expensive, but still devalues them a lot.

Outside of glitches and cheats, there was the lottery from gen 2-4 where the first prize was master ball
In BW you can get another master ball from making 50 trades and in BW2 by defeating Colress in the post-game

On items wich are actually hard to get otherwise. Heart Scales are somewhat easily obtainable by using Rock Smash and by stealing them from Luvdisks by using Thief and an Pokémon with Compoundeyes.
