So, what is the outlook on the decryption of Nintendo 3DS Roms? I'm not talking about actual emulation here, just decrypting the ROM to rip all the data.

Is there anyone currently working on this? Or has everyone simply given up? Did they even really try?

What happened to all those computer genii who got to the bottom of all previous Nintendo consoles?

It's encryption was developed by the NSA, it's the same encryption US Federal servers use. Even if somebody broke it, they wouldn't be dumb enough to post it online.

But... there is nothing more to discover "the old way" anymore. Everything that can be discovered via normal play is pretty much already know. Anything that we don't know yet is in the game data.

And having CoroCoro reveal hidden stuff in a year or two has nothing to do with "discovery".

If you don't want spoilers, just ignore them. Having or not having ROM data didn't make any generation more or less fun, it's a matter of you willing to be spoiled or not.

Don't understand why people thing that having stuff revealed by CoroCoro is more fun than having them now, straight from the game data.

It's not that we knew everything about Arceus and Genesect before they were officially revealed, was it?

They used AES, which the NSA has approved for encryption of classified level government documents. If AES is ever broken, you'll hear about it, it would mean a whole lot more than datamining the 3DS.
