Maxie and Archie are monstrously retarded and don't understand how nature works, but they're kinda funny because of that.

Cyrus was generic JRPG angst villain create a zero world and become a god because my parents didn't love me enough. Pathetic villain, among the worst ever.

Ghetsis was pretty fun, he's legitimately kinda sinister and intimidating and he has had the best plan of any villain in the franchise. Disarm the populace through a faux animal rights movement and then swoop in while they're undefended. It was a pretty sensible plan unlike raising/lowering the fucking sea level or Cyrus's garbage.

Lyandre was mediocre, it boiled down to him being upset at the world and just lashing out at it. He got the job done as an antagonist but he doesn't come off as intimidating, he's pitiable more than anything.

I think a recurring theme throughout the games seems to be that extremists are always bad.

In X/Y everyone actually talks about how extreme Lysandre was, but near the end your rival say something along the lines of "Lysandre wanted to only save Team Flare, but we only wanted to save everyone else. I don't think we're much better, we have to find a middleground."

Powerful. It actually hit me in the feels a little bit.

He did not really explain it very well.
I did like him due to robot bees and because he honestly felt bad about what he was doing, he just saw it as the best possible outcome.

Giovanni is still the best though, because he was simply a 'legitimate businessman' going about his normal business

N was a poor misguided soul who thought team plasma was doing good; he was the antagonist for a lot of the game, but he wasn't the true "villian" of it. That was Ghetsis.
