Go to the Friend Safari. There is an increased chance there! I've gotten 4 shinies there and never got them anywhere else ever.

Stay in there and EV train or something, they'll come out. I was playing with a buddy, and we both caught 2 shinies without 10 minutes of each other in FS.

Playing since RBY too. Only Shiny is Red Gyarados. Tons of Mm eggs. I tried billions of Poke radar chains. I think I'm just cursed to never finding a shiny. I'm currently Masuda Methoding some pokes. I will do it and when I do I'ma lose it haha.

I've got 100 FS. Caught everything in all of them multiple times. Used them for EV and EXP grinding. Hours and hours in there. No shiny.

My point being anecdotal evidence isn't proof of an increased rate.

I've found a few random encounter shiny pokemon each gen since R/S/E, Audino being my latest one in white.

They aren't very good but I guess its an achievement.

Also, I dunno about you guys, but I actually find the false rumors flying around to be a little refreshing. We don't have the cart mined. We don't know these things. It makes me feel like I'm in elementary school lunch break again looking at arguments about Charizard evolving and such.

I caught a green Zubat once, in the 2nd gen.
Didn't know about shinies yet, looked at it and thought "wha- is that Zubat different? Better catch just in case."

Glad I did. No shinies since.

Dunno if anyone remembers from last thread...about an hour ago I posted how I found a Fraxure while looking for a Sliggoo for breeding material to MM...

Again, I ask, why did I not just bump into a shiny Sliggoo? Also, what's with my reverse luck right now? None of my Sliggoos are getting modest nature passed onto them from my Espeon. Hell, neither of the two Fraxures did either. He's at the top of my party, so he should be synching them, but it's like I'm getting tails over and over again on these coin tosses. Meanwhile I find two shinies back to back, neither of which I was looking for, and both with bad natures (though the 2nd Fraxure has 31 attack and speed IVs, such a shame that it's timid).

I really don't know how to feel about this...
