The only 8th gym that has ever been a challenge is Clair and even then she wasn't too hard. Giovanni was a joke if you had any water type which you should because of Surf. Wallace/Juan were easy as sin. Volkner was a joke and half his pokemon weren't even electric in his debut. Drayden/Iris posed a bit of threat, but only because of Haxorus. Wulfric being easy is not a new thing.

The only reason why late game gyms are so easy is because the player has gotten far enough that they should have good type coverage against everything. The early gyms are more difficult because the selection of Pokemon you have is much more limited.

I LOVED his dialogue before the gym fight.
As OP said, he knows Ice type is shit defensively, but if you're not prepared with type advantages it'll tear you a new asshole with its amazing attacking coverage.
Also he uses Avalugg which is my favorite gen 6 mon.

Yeah, that's true.

Snarky remarks aside, this game definitely WAS a lot easier. Greater pokemon selection, EXP All, and even worse, Mega Evolutions, made this game an absolute cakewalk. Took out any need to grind whatsoever.

Not that I really care, mind you. I'm really only in it for the competitive scene.

At the very least, he's one of the few gym leaders who's actually found outside his gym and you have to talk to him. DPP and BW had this for all the gym leaders but they didn't bother giving much characterization to the gym leaders this time.

That's how many gym leaders/E4 didn't even touch my pokemon. Go ahead and throw in Lysandre too I guess because I mopped the floor with him every time. If Platinum was an example of too difficult then this game is an example of way too fucking easy. I've never swept so many gym leaders before.

The addition of Mega's, easier EV training and easier time with grinding makes the main game simple as hell, but cuts down on the boring part of raising a team post game. It's worth it.

I made an exception for mega pokemon this gen cause it's a new feature and I might as well use it even if I don't like it. Unfortunately I only found out once I got to Wulfric that Mawile's mega was post-game. Oh well, still enjoyed using her. Her new fairy typing is a fucking blessing.

I don't understand why people call Platinum too difficult. It's the only one that gives a remote challenge at any point aside BW1 Ghetsis or perhaps Elesa/Whitney if you're poorly equipped for their respective fights, which is fucking awesome.

The reason they don't do dark/poison gyms is they let the bad guys take the dark and poison types. So techinically you get a dark gym, but it's the bad guys boss fight instead of being just a gym leader.

There were bizarre, unexpected difficulty spikes randomly. That one Galactic bitch with the crit-happy Purugly, the Ace Trainer Duo with Raichu and Gyarados, and Cynthia actually requiring a bit of strategy to beat made it seem hard in comparison to other pokemon games.

That being said, it's still a Pokemon game. So it's still baby-mode easy.

That's exactly why they shouldn't have given you those easy training tools until post game. You get Exp All after the first fucking gym, which is the only one that provided even a remote challenge to me. Normally the Elite 4 or Champion will have higher levels than you if you don't grind so it feels like a challenge even if you abuse typings to oneshot everything, you know that their coverage moves can still fuck you up. This gen I didn't grind, only did Super Training to unlock the different levels and my whole team was 20 levels above the Champion. MegaGardevoir hit my eviolite Doublade with a critical shadow ball and it didn't even kill it, same with her Hawlucha's Flying Press against my Arourus. When 4x STAB doesn't KO it's not even interesting anymore.

There's a reason they don't give you choice items and other competitive tools until post game and this is it. Nobody creates a competitive team without beating the game first and they make the actually game piss easy in comparison.

I played each Super Training match one time to unlock the next level. That amounts to like 20 EVs in each stat spread out over my entire team, most of my team had detrimental natures because I don't care about min maxing, and Exp Share is turned on automatically so I left it on thinking the game would scale enemies using that standard.

Stop defending the game, it was piss easy from the time you get to the second gym.

your not the only one, pretty much everyone else followed the same trend as you. I used him in Ruby so i planned him into my team for old times sake. But speed boost makes the game easy. though i guess i cant speak for the rest of the world but vp seems to hate him

I only used eviolite going into the E4 on the off chance they would be a challenge, and even with it Doublade's special defense is still shit. It shouldn't be tanking super effective criticals from the Champion's mega.

Actually not. His Speed Stat is Perfect and a Nature to boost it without taking any of his Attacks. Also MegaLuke have better defense to cover the fall of his nature. I think that Luke is pretty decent, not perfect, but useful if you want to breed another Lucario.

Defog now removes hazards from both sides of the field

Pros: not blocked by ghosts, priority on Prankster (and Gale Wings, if Talonflame gets it), better distribution

Cons: (obviously) removes your own hazards, blocked by taunt, shit distribution until PokeBank opens

Bulky Offense got a lot of buffs this gen and they love Defog. They either don't give a fuck about putting up hazards and can afford to run Defog themselves or they have a Mamoswine that can both set up SR and murder whatever Defog user the enemy team have.

Rapid Spin should be limited to Stall now, because they indeed need to have their own hazards up and don't like having any on their side of the field.
