Last night, I caught Xerneas in a Quick Ball on the first turn. When Serena said that thing about Xerneas choosing to go with me, I thought it was scripted that Xerneas will go with you no matter what, so I decided to reset after chucking the Nature (fucking ten minutes later because you can't check Natures in battle) and now I have a Jolly Xerneas named "Elkhorn".

Poké Balls and Premier Balls are useful because they're extremely cheap, you can get 99 of either for 1/5th the price of an equal amount of specialized Balls. There's also aesthetic value if you're into that sort of thing.

Ultra Balls are just the default you use on non Water or Bug type Pokémon during the daytime when not in a cave after the first turn, on Pokémon with exceptionally low catch rates. On the other hand, from a monetary standpoint there's no reason to use an Ultra Ball over a Poké Ball unless you expect to require more than six times as many Poké Balls to catch the Pokémon or if the Pokémon in question is expected to significantly damage your team while you're trying to catch it.

Clearly you missed the previous gens where hacked shinies were easy to spot because they were caught in Master Balls.

It's a actually a pretty good idea if you don't have a False Swiper and are afraid of critting it to death.

You COULD just chuck regular balls at it, but I prefer to get it done quick and who knows how long it'll take for the harder ones.

Look, wild shinies are rare and to be honest, I don't really think straight when I run into one.

A shiny Growlithe Roared me once and it scarred me for life.
I have a hard time remembering whether or not a certain Pokemon can know SD or whatever, so I just don't risk anything and burn off a Master Ball that honestly isn't all THAT useful anyway.

Using pokeradar to check bushes for pokemon, killing/capturing the same pokemon in a row increases chances of finding a shiny one. Its not as simple as that but just google it if you want more info.

I might replay Soul Silver so I can get a lot of cool stuff in Kurt's balls. his had the best designs but I don't think you can find them in newer generations. I love the moon ball and fast ball. I also love how youc an buy premiere balls in bulk in X/Y .
