Justification for adding a Light type?

Since Fairy type was added to nerf Dragon, what other unbalances could be used to justify including a Light type? (Light type includes both radiant light and holy light, so it both fires lasers and heals)

If we're only going to balance the type chart by introducing new types, we need to introduce four new types, all of which are NVE against Ice.

I swear I saw this exact same thread yesterday. What is the justification for this. Do the other types really need balancing? Why weaken steel when its meant to be a defensive type? Why weaken Fighting when its meant to be an offensive type?

If anything, the type chart should just be rebalanced again, with a couple of types being NVE against Ice, like Water and Grass and a couple of being taking SE against Poison

There's definitely a way to make it work, would we even trust gamefreak with that? But making it SE against dragon after fairy came out is a no.

Maybe just SE against Dark, Electric, Ghost
and have Ice, Grass, Steel, and Fairy resist it.
Dark could be SE against Light in turn? Maybe... Idk
I would be all for a light type though

Fairy type is for fairies and other spirits of nature. Light type is for knights in shining armor, angels, bio-luminescence and whatnot. A sound type does sound right, though.

Ghost types have more to do with darkness than the Dark type does.

We need something that's a good offensive typing, but is weak to Poison and Bug, both of whom get pretty shafted at the moment. Grass resistant to it.

Resistant to fighting, ground, and rock probably.

Light, however, is a terrible idea and shouldn't be used. Please, please stop suggesting it.

It doesn't work like this in pokemon - you could just as easily vaporize water with fire, or have plants die of getting too much water. Elements nullify one another, they aren't 'super-effective' or 'not very effective' yet Pokemon doesn't follow that kind of philosophy.

Fairy was always a great idea for a type because it fight in with the whole Dragon and Ghost being types and there were already several pokemon with fairy themes since Gen1

Logic is simple and easy to understand. A Sound type is very likely because the groundwork for it already exists in Soundproof and noise/music-themed pokemon.

A Cyber type might be justified to categorize Porygon and open the door for similar pokemon.

A Light/Saint type and Magic type are iffy, but we'll probably see them in the future if only to boost sales.

Increasing team limit and move limit decreases the use of strategy, since with more pokemon and moves available there's more room for error. It's a slippery slope, like double battling and new types. If you increase the limit, then you'll increase it again in the future due to pressure. Why not just remove the limit completely?
