It's good, but they need:
A)NOT TO BE FUCKING TYPE BASED GODDAMN
[unless it's specifically to nerf a type that deserves it. like pixie rocks]
B)Not have so many of them that can stack on top of each other
C)Have more counters. Specifically an ability to spin them away.

At their core they're a good and healthy idea to be honest, they give you that extra consistent punish to constant switching, and they prevent focus sash from being ridiculous.

games without them are extremely switch heavy. It becomes a game of who can out predict the counter to the counterswitch that counters the switch in of whateverthefuck.

It's a really nice penalty to have in play.

That being said, rocks are perhaps a bit too strong. If i were in charge, they would do half as much damage as they do now, and stackable back up to where they are now.

If something has a purpose and that purpose ends up as just a bonus to a straight-forward offensive tactic, it's fucking shit and broken.

Stealth Rock is never used to punish switches, it's just there because LOL EXTRA DAMAGE.

People who bitch about hazards have never played with them that much. Only problem I have with hazards is stealth rock can deal 50% hp to a 4x weak switch in. That's way too much, 25% maximum.

Spikes is fine, spikes does something cool and unique and it stacks which is completely fair, you can stack swords dances and agilities, why not spikes? 25% on a switch in doesn't make you autolose, plus you gave your opponent 3 entire turns to set it up. If you were facing a salamence or some shit it could have gotten 3 dragon dances off and your entire team would be corpses.

Toxic spikes are good too. And you can play around it in interesting ways (such as switching in a poison type) it promotes interesting plays.

Sticky web I'm not sure about, I haven't played with it yet so I don't know, but it could be horribly horribly overpowered. I'll keep my eye on it, but it feels like it's basically a +1 speed increase for your entire team once it's on the field. Considering tailwind only lasts 4 turns or something, thats pretty nuts.

GF made Stealth Rock specifically for Flying types were are immune to all other entry hazards. The damage percentage is fucked up though like what >>14920334 said. Losing 50% hp upon switching in is shit.

You know the only hazard people complain about is pebbles right? And the first thing you did was agree with them.
thing about the other hazards is that they have various things to keep them in check.
Spikes and it's toxic cousin have to be stacked to be significant, and flying pokemon avoid them completely. Poison pokemon absorb toxic spikes too. that combine with spinning gives them a lot of counters.
pebbles on the other hand only needs to be put down once and shuts down entire types with huge damage. And it's only counter is spinning.

You do realise that this is EXACTLY what Stealth rocks are? Gen 3 meta very flying focused because flying avoids spikes.

I imagined Hazards being balanced by having Rocks do a flat 10% damage on switch, and Spikes dealing 10% / 15% / 20%. Alternatively, using rocks puts 3 "charges" of rocks on the enemy's side, and you have to renew them if you want to keep them up.

Maybe a specific type of entry hazard which delays the ability of a Pokemon to Mega Evolve? I think that could be really good. Like on switch in, you get covered in 1-3 layers of pigshit (1 layer per stack) and 1 layer falls off at the end of each turn.
