I've got him so far in the red that even my weaker Pokemon could kill him in one hit and my three Ultra Balls I just threw failed before they even fully closed. My hope right now is to drag the battle out for a few more turns and use a timer ball.

I make sure to activate it each time I reset the game.

I also tried Capture Power + Quick Ball (1st turn) and it didn't come close to working.

Well, I just went through 12 Ultra Balls, 2 Timer Balls, 3 Luxury Balls, my only Dusk Ball, a Nest Ball (for shits and giggles), and a couple Pokeballs thrown in there, and while I got a crit capture on one of the Luxury Balls it still didn't work. I think it's time to use a Master Ball.

And I have this guy's health so low you can barely see it it's just a sliver of red.

Tilt the 3ds left and right in rhythm with the pokeball. I believe it gives it an added 20% chance of catching a pokemon.

This seems like a relevant thread to post this.

A couple of times when catching pokemon the ball has made a different sound and it barely shakes once before it captures whatever poor sod it was thrown at.
Has this feature been in the previous games? is it new? was it just luck and not a feature at all?

All this gen's legendaries were easy as fuck to catch. Got Xerneas in a Premier Ball, paralyzed and yellow. Mewtwo in one shot with a Quick Ball. Zygarde with a dusk ball, burned and yellow.

Not that there's anything deserving of a master ball to be found, unless you're fond of Graveler and find a shiny one that could know SD/Explosion.
