>>14922376For such a big plot point (Sycamore is studying it, everyone early game talks about it...thats the whole point of early game) it really fizzles out for no reason after that. I mean, once you get the mega stone, there's literally nothing else about it until you get to the post game and you're able to actually get the stones in the first place.
And by then, you're already focusing on other shit like breeding, trading or doing other things.
I mean, they want you to obviously use Lucario but there's nothing forcing you to keep it on your team (at that point, most of my Pokemon were higher leveled anyways and putting it on my team would have been detrimental, even if i wasn't going to use strictly gen 6 Pokemon.
Torchic is cool too, but I'm pretty sure you couldn't even use its mega until you get to that point in the story.
I think it would have been better personally to keep the mega evolution stuff entirely til post game. You hear things about it and bits and pieces are revealed by gym leaders or other important NPCs, and then once you defeat AZ, the crystal thing starts. That'd at least leave the door open for a bigger story in the third version with AZ being hinted at having a hand in the creation of the Mega Stones. I'd still keep Mega Gyarados and Gardevoir though in the same spots. that way it would have been a bigger deal because you couldn't do shit with a mega evolution. It'd lead the fact that Diantha had mastered it (truly a CHAMPION) and Lysandre cheated his way into doing it like a normal villain would.
