Stop calling Lance a flying champion. When he switches up his team after you unlock the second version of the Elite Four in HGSS, he uses only dragons, and the same is true in the PWT.

Dark type.
He's a dick and enjoys being one. Not to a Red/Blue level of rivalry, but like how some of the recent champions repeatedly help you along the way or offer advice, he does his best to mess your journey up. Just because he's the champion and he knows you aren't good enough to beat him yet. Your final battle against him is basically the pokemon version of your match against Eric Sparrow in Tony Hawk's Underground.

Themed, but not entirely one type, like the first Iris battle. That way, you could have, like, a champion based around nature and things, and have them use Ground, Rock, Grass, and things like that, or a mystical champion that uses Ghosts, Fairies, and Psychics.

Honestly, gym leaders have way more presence than E4 these days. I think it was a smart move to devote an entire area to fairy type. They had the whole medieval theme present in the Eç through the knight guy anyway, so I think they handled it quite well.

Each member are mixed, but all within the same group of types.

Let's say you get 100 exp for a fight. Before, the exp. share would split it between two members, meaning the lead guy and the exp share guy got 50 exp each.

Now, with the current mechanic, the lead guy gets 100, and everyone else on the team gets 50, for no cost. You've effectively earned an extra 250% exp, spread across your team.

I like champions that have a varied team.

Although gen 2 is probably my favourite, I have to admit it had the weakest champion.
