So, /vp/. With all these types and the introduction of fairy types, how do YOU keep them all straight? There's the normal stuff like fire>water>grass>fire, but what are your tricks for remembering other type matchups, especially now with the introduction of fairies? Stuff like 'well psychic is weak to common fears: bugs, ghosts, and the dark'. And 'Fighting is a 'light' type, therefore it's super effective against dark.' What are your tips and tricks?

Whenever I accidentally land a NVE attack against a Fairy, I think, Wow that's gay. And I remember.

Ice: freezes bird wings so they can't fly. Also, winter kills plants. And the Ice Age killed the dinosaurs, so that explains dragons.

Fighting beats dark because fists of justice strike down the forces of darkness. Fairy beats dark because it's a pure and innocent type, and good always triumphs over evil. Bug beats dark because even the evilest motherfucker out there is gonna flip his shit when he spots a centipede on his toothbrush.

I was actually thinking about this last night so here are some basic ways I remember. First and foremost: ghost vs psychic. I shit you not the one way I remember this goes back to the anime where ash needed to catch a ghost pokemon to beat Sabrina and her psychic types next is psychic vs fighting it could be said individuals with psychic powers can control the muscle movements of their enemies using only their mind. dark vs ghost a ghost appears primarily in the darkness, even though the darkness still engulfs the ghost fairy vs dragon fairies are the persona of goodness whereas dragons are often portrayed as beings of evil. I have some more obscure ways for remembering other match ups but I'll save you all my nonsense

Electric hits neutral against steel because metal can carry a current. I don't even know what else hits neutral against steel but when I don't have a fire type I always use electric moves.
