>>14955959>>Pokemon cannot just be caught and fought with willy nilly. You need to register them as willing participants to battles via the League. These papers require you to check them at a Pokemon Center, get their DNA recorded in the PC database, and if they are intelligent enough to make their own decisions, verbal or written consent. Due to intelligence increase through evolution, these papers need to be re-documented with each evolution. (For example, you do not need the consent of s Slowpoke to battle, but you do need consent for a Slowking.)That does make sense, and would also prevent a LOT of problems that would occur with a society that has pokemon integrated with it. If battles are a sport in the real world, then the pokemon would be considered the athletes rather than tools, while the trainer the coach.
>Pokemon rights become a thing. Depending on the intelligence rank of a pokemon, they receive rights and become citizens. For example, a Pikachu will always be considered an animal and a pet, and must be with a trainer at all times in public. However, a Gardevoir or Alakazam have the right to their own home, jobs, and independence. Despite this, many pokemon prefer to stay with human families due to the inner urge to bond with them. Also makes sense. The one major problem with a pokemon world would be containing the potential uprising of Psychics, as they are the most intelligent and dangerous of the types. By allowing them to be their own citizens, it helps promote equality and keeps everyones brains from being turned to mush.
However, safety regulations would need to be made for resisting psychic attacks and preventing mind reading.
