Now trying to super train my level 1 froakie I can't even complete one course.
Am I retarded or is there a difficulty change depending on the level of the pokemon you are training?

No its because your Froakie has no EVs. You do more damage with more Sp.Atk and Atk EVs, take less damage with HP/Def/Sp.Def Evs, and shoot faster with speed EVs. So since your Froakie has no EVs at all it sucks major ass in the beginning .

You should probably just EV train via horde battles honestly. EXP share gives all EVs earned in battle to all pokemon in the party. So, it'd be much easier to start with even without Pokerus or power items.

This.
I thought of just sticking to Super Training this generation but after getting the Power Items and Pokerus and attempting the hordes it's way faster. Takes like 10 minutes to max out the EVs. The only problem is you might run into hordes you don't want to and the slowdown from all the Pokemon on-screen is annoying.

Question. If you equip your horde-destroyer pokemon with the Macho Brace, does the rest of your team get increased EV as well?

Hmm, nope. My Tyrantrum was holding Macho Brace and Slugma with Power Lens + Pokerus still only gets 50SpA EVs.

I am a dumb fuck when it comes to math. How do I keep track of the EVs my party pokemon i want to train has using the horde method?
Super training tells you how many points you achieved, so I can add that to the tally easily. With for example horde battle against 5 roselias, is that always going to be 10SpA?
What other variables are there? I want to be as accurate as possible.

With Pokerus and the right Power Item, 1EV Hordes are worth 50EV, 2EV 60EV. I like to use the same EV counter I used back in BW, http://zero456.com/ev-counter/

So to train my protean froakie's special attack, I infect it with pokerus and give it power lens, then keep it in my party while I use an earthquake or surf user against 5 roselias... Right?
or does the pokemon doing the fighting need the power lens and pokerus?

Keep a Pokemon with an AoE attack like Earthquake to take down the hoard. He does not need Pokerus or any items. Turn Exp Share on to ensure Pokerus Power Lens Froakie gets the experience and therefore the EVs. Since Roselia gives 2EVs, add 4EVs from Power Lens, double the total due to Pokerus, you get 12 Sp.Atk EVs from each Roselia. Times 5 for the horde and 12x5=60EVs per horde.
