Uhhh Gen IV had the pokeradar. I would get at LEAST ten shinies a day using that thing. Ten in three days compared to that is sloooow.

I haven't touched chaining or MMing. I chained over 100 shinies in 2 months in IV.

once you have 40 chains, just reseting the radar alone should get you shiny patches no problem
