I was going to do Icicle Crash but I always get hit first anyways since my friends all use speedy as fuck pokemon, so the flinch chance doesn't really help me, and the miss chance fucks me over huge.

Whereas with Avalanche, since they always hit me first, I'm going to rape them with 120 BST + STAB.

Thinking about just dumping my EVs into HP and Attack.

Also considering Icicle Spear to deal with annoying as fuck Substitutes.

I think in the early generations the three starters were intended as difficulty settings, at least for the first half of the game: Bulbasaur is easy, Squirtle is normal. Charmander is hard.

Otherwise each generation has a certain type that makes the game a lot easier.

Gen 1: Psychic.
Gen 2: Also Psychic.
Gen 3: Fighting.
Gen 4: Grass. (Not many will agree, but I started to just steamroll major trainers in Sinnoh with a Sunnyday/Solarbeam grass pokemon.)

I can sorta see it. I enjoy mega blaziken's stupid strength but he's so easy and go-to that I'm not using mine.
