I can deal with the lack of challenge in XY, but what's up with the lack of story? Every trainer is merely a stereotype and only says one thing a billion times.
BALL! BALL! GREAT BALL! ULTRA BALL! OUT OF BALLS...
Even important characters only show up to explain or give something to you. I'm seriously struggling to finish it since every character is obnoxious.

I don't remember it to be this horrible though.
I recently played through heartgold again and even that had more story and had less annoying characters.

This is objectively bullshit

The plot follows the same exact skeleton, you could write a general outline that fits both games perfectly

Why the hell do you even battle Sycamore in that shitty town?
Why are your rivals so shit?
Why do most trainers only use like two Pokemon?
Why do you have to battle Lysandre three times with his Bipolar personality kicking in when he challenges you for the third time even after he just told you to do what you gotta do?
This game feels like just a bad translation.

Since when the hell did this ever constitute for story in Pokemon games?

XY's story is rushed as hell but at least its better than BW2.

Honestly, I think Platinum had the best story followed by BW.

Gens 1&2 barely have anything that constitutes as a storyline.
