Because most Pokemon already produce sound.
It is like saying we need an item type Pokemon because some Pokemon are based off of items.

Pyroar. Only reason it's Normal is for STAB on Hyper Voice.

It should be SE against Water, Ghost, and Steel, NVE against Bug, Ice, and Rock, resist Water and Sound, and be weak to Bug and Ice.

Fairy should have been weak to normal. Think about it, Fairy is the fantasical. It's fey myth and the like. What is the death of fantasy? Reality, the mundane. The mythical beings feared or loved or hated in the past are gone, the phenomena they were said to be responsible for has been explained away with perfectly logical explanations.

At the very least normal could have been super effective to fairy while fairy was neither super nor not very effective.

two things about this. 1, sound resisting sound doesn't necessarily have to be the logical representation of real life, since sounds can compound on sounds if they aren't out of phase and possibly get louder

2, it would be cool if there was a type that didn't resist itself, so if it became a type i'd rather it be 1x on itself

Wave type

Sound, Light, Radio, Radiation, you name it

Strong against: Water (sound goes through easily, makes you get a sunburn even easier when swimming in it, the effect of microwaves on water is obvious)

NVE, maybe even No Effect against: Grass (photosynthesis, plants barely respond to musical stimuli), gives Grass something nice to look forward to

This. Unlike, say, light or any of the other common fan types, sound actually has some sort of basis in the games already in certain moves. If I had to place money on the next new type addition, however many years down the line that may be, I'd bet on sound.

That's a bad example because Dark-type has nothing to do with darkness or absence of light. It's dark as in bad or underhanded.

Sound is a lot more interesting as a class of attacks that can be any type, rather than a type all by itself, though. I'd hate to see it get turned into a type.

thats actually the scheme for a "Void" type i thought of. Void type would include pokemon not tangible or exist outside of the natural dimension, IE: Giratina, Porygon(2/Z), Unown, Spiritomb (maybe not). Of course there arent enough pokemon to fit this theme yet, though I assume a generation that introduced such a type would include new pokemon to fit the theme.

Sound would be interesting, but aspects of it are spread out across multiple types and abilities already that implementing it would be a challenge.
Not to mention that every type added since Gen 1 has been added strictly for balancing purposes.
