What was up with this quest? Nothing important happens, it's just interplay between a bunch of secondary characters, one of them that exists solely to be super special and a part of this plotline. You don't even get a reward out of it, not a single thing, you have to play through this plot for no reason.

My first console was an Atari 2600. Pretty much all the quest DID give you was a 'pat on the back'. Sideplots typically have some benefit, like an item or the like. You don't get anything out of this.

Another thing to compare it to are those journals in Cinnabar Mansion - They just serve to expand on the world of Pokemon and add backstory, which is the reward in and of itself

There is a WHOLE FREAKING SUBPLOT where you have to do things like use Flash, use a Water Stone, use an Escape Rope, and capture Ho-oh and have it in your party

For what? Some quite frankly shitty items and a bit of backstory. The backstory is the reward

Another one is capturing all the Unown. The reward? A bit more backstory

Both require quite a bit of work for basically no reward beyond backstory

I think all of this will tie in to the ultimate Villain Team in the nigh impossible final Gen of Pokemon. In that Gen also we will finally be able to explore the Interpol HQ which is located in THAT very region with Looker having prominent plot feature.

Destroyed a character's character. Xerosic was the complete opposite of how he was portrayed during the lab portion, what he did was entirely unwarranted with no reason or warning. He also had the most mystery build up around him IMO, because of how little he appeared and his participation in Lysandre's plot.

I'll give you that, he was pretty twisted. But his presence seemed kind of forced. Like they needed Team Galactic post game somehow and a new character would solve their problems. Also, they needed to explain Rotom, so they chose him to do it. All in all, he didn't add much to the game, much like our buddy Xerosic.

Maybe vibrant isn't the word but her character certainly had some degree of depth, relative to what's normally expected in Pokemon games anyway. It's a nice little story ok? Not the OP here but I agree with some of that shit. The Looker sidequest more of a chore than anything. Like having all that buildup when literally everyone in the world knew it was Emma in that suit. Then having to battle her 4 times in a row TWICE was just tedious.

It was ambitious to throw in a real side quest post game, but it was executed pretty terribly. I honestly don't think the people defending it for the characters or the story have played many other games. Have you played a game with an actually good story? Cause Emma + Looker's barely explored relationship told over the course of 5 minutes isn't good.

Don't get me wrong, I usually enjoy the main story, but Pokemon is clearly geared towards younger children. A few examples from XY (and most other Pokemon games):

To be fair I do think the motives of the bad guys were interesting in XY and a few other games, but that's the closest the story gets to being deep.We all know Lysandre was right.

It's not inherently bad for GF to do this, but you're playing the wrong game if you think Pokemon is all about the story. It doesn't hurt if you do enjoy the story, just don't get your hopes up that the postgame plot is going to be spectacular.
