I don't know why people are complaining about a few hours (mostly less than that even) of fishing, when people who do Masuda, a confirmed method for shinies, go days/week(s) before finally getting a shiny hatched. Just keep on trucking /vp/, you'll land that shiny skrelp/clauncher/whatevs eventually, just like other shiny methods.

Stick with it, it pays off. I had 3 separate chains, 100, 40, and 18. Number 18 of my 3rd chain was my shiny Horsea. Already Super Trained and getting ready to Amie it. It may be a 1st gen Pokemon, and have a subpar nature, but I love it.

It definitely works. Got this on the 26th try of the chain off route 21 near the strength boulder puzzle thing. Used a super rod, had fainted suction cups inkay as first pokemon in party.

Anybody getting irritated that their front Pokemon is too weak to run, give it a Smoke Ball to hold. Makes running work one hundred percent of the time. Obvious I know, but I've seen some people in the thread complaining about being unable to run, and I had this same problem too.

Well...all's well that ends well I suppose. OP here. I decided to, for the hell of it, do another chain on Route 21. Got up to 12 when I got a Shiny Poliwhirl, which I nearly missed because I wasn't paying attention and missed the intro sparkles. My gut told me to catch it since it's color looked off. Sure enough, it was shiny!
