What is Showlocke? Showlocke is a portmanteau of the words Showdown and Nuzlocke. Showdown refers to Pokemon Showdown, a pokemon simulator for battles, while Nuzlocke refers to a self imposed challenge in Pokemon games where if a pokemon faints, it is considered dead and thus cannot be used.
Showlocke was founded by the users Temporaryanonymous, ArkWelder, roseyraid, pick, and QwietQwilfish as an experiment to see how nuzlocke mechanics would work in a battle simulator where pokemon were essentially like chess pieces, traded away in each battle. How long could a person last with a set amount of pokemon that could permanently disappear?
The only way to find out, to truly bond with and see the usefulness and mortality of pokemon, is the job of the showlockers.
