So explain this new breeding system to me.

I have a Ditto with 31/31/31/x/31/x

I give it a Destiny Knot, and put it in the Daycare with a 31/x/x/x/x/31 Fennekin holding a Power Anklet, ensuring it passes speed.

All the babies should be 31/31/31/x/31/31 right?

Ok. But why?

The Destiny Knot is guaranteed to pass down 5/6 IVs yeah?

And Power items 100% the IV they correlate to.

So the 31 speed is a given.

Then the remaining 5 are taken from the Ditto, 4 of which are already 31, and the last of which is not.

So only special attack shouldn't be 31 right? Because speed is negated due to Power item on Fennekin?

Nobody knows how destiny knot and power items stack yet, but destiny knot guarantees 5 IVs from BOTH parents.

You could easily get shitty atk, def, spA and spD from your Fennekin

This is fucking wrong. It is always 5. It just picks them from either parent, not just the one holding the Destiny Knot.

We're not sure how Power Items work with it yet. Either it'll ensure the other 5 stats are taken from one of the two parents, and pass the appropriate state from the power item, or destiny knot may attempt to pass a stat into the same stat the power item is effecting, in which case one will overtake the other, leaving another 4 IVs to be passed by Destiny Knot

its always 5 IVs from the parents, with 1 locking for sure if its held together with a power item.

IF it seems like any less, its because it passed down a non 31 optimal stat from the opposite parent.

You can't breed Ditto. The only way to get a 5/6 IV Ditto is to find one in the wild (even with the Friend Safari boost that's like 1/32,000 chance to get a 5 IVer).

You can, however, breed both a male and female perfect Pokemon of choice and then use that as breeding stock to create an army of perfect pokes which you can trade with other people who created an army of different perfect pokes.

I've been messing around with Destiny Knot for a day or so now, and it is great.
If both parents have a 31 IV in a certain stat, it is not guaranteed to get passed down.
Anywhere from 1-5 from both parents.
Destiny Knot does not count a power item as a transfer. The Destiny Knot will ignore that stat entirely.

Here is my strategy.
Breed the two Pokemon I want to breed.
Constantly check IVs on all babies.
replace mother and father with babies of higher 31 IV count. Repeat until perfect IVs.
To get that last step of perfect, you have to pass down 5 of the 31, and hope that the remaining stat gets a 31 by chance.

Go to the IV checker in Kiloude City's Pokemon Center, he'll rate your highest IV. If he lists more than one, that means that they have the same value. If he says at the end that "the stat can't be beat", that means you have a 31 in all the stats he listed

Go to Kiloude city Pkmn center. A guy there will say great things about a stat if it is 31, and bad things if it is 0.
Other than that, there is a Hidden Power checker in Alistair, and you can use IV calculators online.

It's perfectly plausible to get a 2 IV child from 2 5 IV parents you know, depending on which IVs are maxed.

That said, with 2 5 IV parents, I had a very strong trend of 4 IVs, followed by 3, then 5, then finally 2.

I can see that being more likely when you don't use Destiny Knot.
In my experience of using it, and having bred 20+ so far, I have not gotten a single Pokemon with less than 3 31 IVs.

Yes, I do see your point and agree with you.

The point of my post though, was to state that Destiny Knot does not always pass down 5.
If that were the case, than my last batch would have all Pokemon with 5 31 IVs at least.

Wrong. It picked your male's inferior stat and the other was a non-passed down IV. That's why it has 4 IVs. Although as I said just above, the one missing HP and attack is inexplicable.

It's the only one that makes your theory plausible. Every single other offspring is viable if 5 IVs were passed down. Are you absolutely certain it was the offspring of those two? I know I've mixed up eggs ocasionally.

Couldn't be an egg mixup that is for sure.
I'd have my Talonflame and 5 eggs. Hatch the eggs, and go directly to the IV checker.
The only possible error could've just been a human error on my part.
I still have the Chansey in question, I put them into my Chansey box in order and will go and check it.
