Personally my ideal RPG-character-creation engine has fat/muscle/bone length-or-density sliders for each specific body part. It would require a little creativity when it comes to ensuring the clothing doesn't clip through the models wearing them, but I think that would be the optimum amount of customization in any game. You could make a burly fucking bearmode dude, a /fit/itzen, a skinny fucking nerd with one really buff fuckin' arm, your own special snowflake tumblr-whale (if you really want to, shit's nasty), or a good ol' slim-n-stacked animu grill.
Why RPGs don't adopt the system wholesale is beyond me. I can potentially see why Game Freak went for a more preset-oriented model, because of their audience, but I'm wondering if anyone feels the same way about this.
