Hey folks Was doing some experiementing, and it turns out you don't have to be anywhere near rocks for this shit to work. I fished in the middle of a lake, and got a shiny Basculin (was going for Poliwhirl, oh well)

It's like Pokeradar chaining. The encounter rate for shinies is increased drastically (Maybe even up to Pokeradar's 1:200), but it doesn't mean you're guaranteed to get a shiny.
Just keep going, because it's a 0.5% chance to encounter one or something instead of 0.0125%

So when is a good time to reset your chain? I only tried once last night because I didn't have the time to play again yet afterwards, but I got over 40 chain and didn't get a shiny, and I was at that same spot. This morning I tried the method and caught a Shiny Seadra. Then later when I was on the shitter I encountered a Shiny Basculin but it killed itself. After that I chained consecutive 50+ chains (accidently dropped them) I'm back to Masuda for now but the method DOES work. Sometime the chain will drop itself (not even a nibble.) Both the rocks and Suction Cups help you keep the chain but they aren't 100% needed for it to work. When I caught Seadra I was actually doing it wrong and my player was next to the rocks and my fishing line was away from them, but it still works. I hoping to catch several Shiny Skrelps to trade one for a Shiny Clauncher.

Honedge line is really good for shiny fishing since you have a guaranteed escape, false swipe, and cannot be hit with recoil or suicide moves.
