Should I run Fire Fang for coverage or Sword Dance for maximum overkill?

Personally Id prefer going Swords Dance and SD Sucker Punch will sweep.

But when Pain Split become available (might have to wait for a new game) then that is also another good Option.

Even with its defense, Mawile still can't take a lot of hits. If you've got some good support / dual screens somewhere in your team, go swords dance, but otherwise you're probably best off with a little more coverage.

It's what I've found is best with my Mawile work thus far anyway.

Pain Split will be available as soon as Pokebank is, so I guess Mawile's from this Gen will be used a lot less.

Oh totally, baton pass ninjask or something'd be crazy good. I've got a Gothitelle with double screens that trades in well myself, and I've been thinking of looking into Skarmory or something for a Tailwind.

I was thinking about trying to make a trick room team since mawile has really low speed. Breeding Mawiles now, but for some reason I just keep getting really bad IVs, even with both parents having 3 31 IVs (HP, ATK, DEF, S.ATK) I just keep getting shitty S.ATK passed along rather than HP ATK and DEF.

You won't really get a chance for Swords Dance since Mega Mawile is slow and doesn't have great defenses. I'm no serious competitive battler but baton passing Ninjask with Swords Dance has turned my Mawile into a destructive machine in lots of battles.

If I could get pain split I'd probably put it on there, but it's unavailable at the moment.

Swords Dance isn't something you normally get off.
Usually I get it off when I switch into a moonblast or something and use it when the enemy fairy switches out.
It's not too common, but when it happens well

I can vouch that trick room mega mawile is possibly the greatest thing I've ever seen.

I don't run a trick room team, but whenever I fight one I get to turn their gimmick against them.
It is so glorious.

Yeah I'm using Destiny Knot. I've got 4 ones with 31 IVs in HP, ATK, DEF, and S.ATK. Wish I could've rolled one with high S.DEF but it didn't happen and I got bored of breeding them. So I'll train one up and probably trade the rest.

Eh, you got the 31 in hp and that is what matters.

On one hand the IV's seem to be good, you've got good att, def, and speed IV's
But you should really breed it to get rid of that sheer force.

What are some good teammates for MegaMawile?

Thinking about:
Slowbro @ Leftovers (Blaziken counter!)
Ability: Regenerator
Nature: Bold (+Def, -Atk)
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 SpDef
- Scald
- Psychic
- Slack Off
- Calm Mind / Flamethrower

Dragonite/Salamence/Noivern?

I definitely want something Flying to cover Mawile's ground weakness. Dragon also has the perk of resisting Mawile's other weakness, fire.

If they send in another Dragon to counter mine, back to Mawile. If they send in an Ice, switch to Slowbro.

I am open to other suggestions. Never really been a competitive battler in the past... I usually stuck to Battle Tower/Battle Subway

It can learn pain split once poke transfer comes in.
The BW2 move tutor could teach it pain split.

Though I'd be iffy on whether or not I'd use that, I mean sure it's a great move, but you're really relying on surviving the hit and using it to heal.
I feel like it would be better to just attack for the most part, it seems too risky.

I'm hesistant to reccomend Noivern, because while it is fast as fuck, it just isn't too powerful and is very vulnerable to being 1shot if it doesn't 1shot the enemy.

I've been running mega mawile along with my hydreigon and whatever 3rd looks to be appropriate for the situation.
I use it as a hard counter for fairies and sometimes dragons

Nah

Just keep on breeding until you get an IV-spread you like. If you're "unlucky" enough to get Intimidate, you can just use the ability switch capsule (cost shitloads of BP, but should be worth it).

Iv spread is impossible for me to predict aside from one stat due to description unless I level it. I have been getting a reliable ammount of 20/25 atk and 24 spd so its not that bad

Is the ability capsule one time use?

Use Salamence. Salamence and MegaMawile resist eachother's weaknesses and make a good offensive pair. Double Intimidate is also really cool.

Every idiot wants to justify cripplingly slow pokemon with "muh trick room"

It's amazing in doubles, but outside of reuiniclus, trick room is a gimmick.

Switch in Mawile, get the Intimidate off, they now have half their Attack. She has decent enough physical defense and typing to easily survive a turn.

Swords Dance doesn't sound like a bad choice.

I believe the spread is supposed to have the same attack and sp.def as a 252/228/24 careful, but have more points left over? The speed would let you outspeed neutral uninvested tyranitar... Would swords dance still let you OHKO stuff like garchomp with sucker punch?
