See, I was hoping that Team Flare would be more subtle about their methods... much like an actual legit company with a shady background, their plot exploding when they finally announce their plan to kill everyone minus those in their company.

Also, the fact that there was no mass panic when they finally DID announce their plot really undermined the threat. All in all, Team Flare was a disappointment.

And the trainer. Also Kalos means Beauty. Also lots of things are apparently unlocked the more fashionable the trainer is. The fact that you can even take your time to dress up your pokemon like that shows how fashion-oriented the region is. I admit that I'd like to dress up more pokemon, even the silly ones. ESPECIALLY the silly ones, but I don't think they could do it well with everything.

I remember someone saying that Flare would've been a lot better if the group itself was just Lysandre, his scientists, and the admins with the dirty work all being done by hired thugs and other people who've been paid off, and who wouldn't have been in the 'doesn't die' group. As it is, Lysandre's ideals are hurt by the kind of people he let into Flare, who are all the kinds of people who led to the problems that drove him mad in the first place.

Team Flare would have been better if they weren't so blatant. They're supposed to be funny in how open they are about their plans but it ends up just making them annoying to come across. All their plans seem manufactured just for you to foil them whereas in the other games it really feels like you're getting in the way. Lysandere wasn't really the problem.

I thought it was neat how Sycamore was close to Lysandere from the start and how he couldn't see what was really going on, but then he just disappears at the climax and they let that whole thing go with an apology from Sycamore in the next town.

I don't need anything edgy. I love cute things, but I hate the color pink and everything is just matted with it. Beyond that the designs are just unappealing and have this forced feeling, like they went out of their way to make them as cutesy as possible and it feels unnatural.

I thought it was a possible homage to Leder from Mother 3, which made equally no sense. Leder is also from an ancient civilization of humans, which would be like the humans in Earthbound/Mother 2. I don't know if it was intentional or just coincidental though, but Black/White had a lot of Mother 3 stuff. The ending credits sounded like the theme from Mother 3, and the black/white dragon idea was from Mother 3. And of course Pokemon shares so much in common with Mother 1 and 2 because Gamefreak hired some Ape employees who worked on the games. That's why there's things like the bike themesong, and hell, the red hat and aliens and mewtwo.

Yggdrasil, the tree from Norse mythology had a blind eagle at the top of the tree, a deer with long jewelled antlers at the bottom of the tree, and a snake around its roots.

I'm not sure how the rest ties in but Team Flare's plot was kind of an apocalypse thing so it probably has to do with ragnarok or something.

In my opinion, Lysandre has to be the most human syndicate boss in the pokemon series. He's an actual character who has a reason for what he does, not just some generic figurehead going "HA HA I AM EVIL AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN EVIL. I WILL DO THIS EVIL STUFF BECAUSE I AM EVIL". He tried to make the world a better with all of his resources, and talking to quite a few NPCs you can hear them talk about how he had helped them. But at one point he realized that no matter how much money and influence he had, he wouldn't be able to keep the world from becoming a shitty place, so he could only hope to purge the world of evil and mostly everything else in order to preserve at least some good. He even shows sadness over the consequences of what he believes to be the right thing. That tiny bit of regret for his actions makes him more human than any previous generations' syndicate bosses, who had their own extremely destructive, cruel, and some even deranged plans, which they go through with without a second thought.

Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but I played Y, and I'm pretty sure the story went as follows. AZ was grieving his dead flower fairy and used the "weapon" to revive it, giving it and himself eternal life. Only upon being left behind by the flower fairy did he lose his shit and actually reconstruct the immortality device into the weapon he and later Lysandre used.

So why would Lysandre be immortal now that the device has been converted into a weapon of mass destruction, and he used it as such?

Note that (from what I assume, haven't played X yet) the exact same thing happens in Y, but rather than focusing on Xerneas' gift of life, it mentions Yveltal's ability to redirect life. So I think it's safe to start mentioning Yveltal's contribution to that contraption as well.

That said, does a crapload of pokemon die in order to revive AZ's pokemon in X as well? It makes perfect sense in Y since Yveltal causes death to revitalize itself, but if Xerneas can just sprinkle life willy-nilly I don't see how that backstory would be that tragic...

I find it interesting how most of Team Flare's members and people who saw them had no idea the higher ups were really evil people. Even when you talk to some NPCs, some praise them and others want to pay the 5 million to join.

I wish GF did more with that, having an organization that appears good to all, only the rich and elite can join, and the leader is actually fucking insane.

Completely unexpected. You tend to wonder if other characters have some bad history. But really this games E4+champion seemed like a bunch of aristocrats and artists, hardly the same type of trainer we previously saw. For example, the Pokemon League palace has plaques and two of them are records.
