So I got a Protean Frogadier through Friend Safari with 31 IVs in ATK and Speed, but it's got a neutral nature (Quirky). I also know shit about breeding and passing down stuff or whatever and don't have an excessively nice Ditto. How worth it would it be to keep trying for one with an ATK-enhancing nature?

get a ditto with a + attk -sp atk nature (adamant) and breed it with it, give the ditto sn evertone to hold and give the frog a attack brace or watever the +attack effort value item is called, you should get plenty protean frogs with adamant and 31 attk iv garanteed and from there keep breeding until you get a 31 iv on speed frog

I'm assuming it's male. Look for one with an ideal nature (probably jolly or adamant in your case, I'd go with jolly), throw an everstone on it and breed them together. The Everstone helps pass down natures, which should ensure a more ideal Froakie. Then you can just keep checking IVs.

If you have at least 5 different maxed IVs between each Pokemon (in this case, hp/attack/defense/s.def/speed would be ideal), you might want to throw a Destiny Knot on Frogadier, as it would ensure five IVs would get passed down from either parent and increase your chances of passing down the IVs you'll want maxed out.

As this guy said, you can also use the Power items if you want to ensure one particular stat gets passed down from Frogadier, which works fine in the situation that you really don't care enough to get better IVs than what's necessary for offense.

It is male, yes. Also, how do I check IVs for a low-level Pokemon adequately? I know entering a battle where everything's set to 50 or something like that should do it, but where would I get that without buggin' people?

in game there is a guy in the poke center by the citty with the battle mansion that you unlock after finishing the game, that guy tells you the best an worst IVs, you want him to say something like "his attack is good ,also his speed, also xxxx, those stats cant be beat" thats a max IV
