I finally got a Pumpkaboo with perfect IVs in all but Speed. Careful nature, which was recommended to me. What should I do for moves? Atk or Sp.Atk?

Also, should I evolve it ASAP (Level 1) or wait til a certain point?

Your Gourgeist has a -SpAtk +SpDef nature. It has base 58 SpAtk compared to (assuming Super Size) base 100 Atk.

I recommend learning how natures and stats work before getting into IV breeding and shit.

Evolve it whenever you please, it's super easy to get moves back via the reminder. I discovered that if you evolve them early you can learn all of the moves that they should have learned while leveling.

ie: I made a Florges with the lowest level Floette I had and was able to learn Moonblast at like level 19. Pumpkaboo is a great thief with Frisk too. Just slap a dead compound eye pokemon in your first slot and fish at the "shiny rock" with an old rod and steal up all of the heart scales and just unlearn thief at the reminder.

Actually since my last giveaway I've only got 10 left, half of which are females.
You can have one anyway. After these I've got about a box and a half of those with 4 IV's, then about that much once more of 3IV's.

I can't guarantee their natures, though; most of them are a result of me trying to hatch one with a Careful nature. Boy that took long enough.

As far as I can tell no but I'm new to pokemon. It seems that stats are calculated by a variable. Say, unevolved it has a modifier of .9 but evolved it has a modifier of .125 and it's all calculated retroactively.

I may be wrong though, this is my first pokemon game.

So I'm working on a Dragalge, but I'm pretty new to anything that isn't throwing together a sweeper, so I'd like some thoughts. What I've bean leaning towards is:

Dragalge @ Black Sludge
Ability: Poison Point
Nature: Calm
EVs: 252 HP/252 Sdef/4 SA
-Draco Meteor
-Hydro Pump
-Toxic
-Protect

This is just mostly what I've been able to come up with. I'm leaning more towards toxic than toxic spikes just because I'm not too confident about something as easy to clear as toxic spikes, even if not every team will be running a poison time. I'm leaning protect over subsitute just because of how many new ways there are to bypass substitute. Any thoughts?

The only "window of opportunity" has to do with moves.

Generally, unevolved mons learn moves faster than evolved mons. Historically, evolution based on something other than level (for example, using a stone) would STOP the move-learning process and make it possible to miss moves.

So what matters is making sure that it already knows or can learn moves via level-up and TM before evolving it.

HOWEVER, the move relearner's mechanics have changed this gen (forgotten egg moves can be relearned, for instance) and I know that, for instance, my Aegislash could learn Sacred Sword at the move relearner despite me evolving it before Doublade learned it, so it's POSSIBLE you can get moves via the relearner that you missed by evolving too soon.

But there's not been any in-depth testing on that front yet.

OR, once we figure out what mutations yield Kee and Meranga berries, you can mix a Kee and Meranga berry at the Juice Shoppe in Lumiose to get a soup that resets a mon's EVs.

I don't think this is the Metagame general at all...

Anyway all of Gourgeists best sets run on the smallest size for dat speed. Best use so far has been as a spin blocker. With the rise of Megastoise it has a nice niche of resisting water pulse and immunity to aura sphere and rapid spin. Also threatens with a fairly strong seed bomb.

Actually maximum bulk is achieved by having HP, Def, and SpDef equivalent to one another (because of the multiplicative nature of the damage calc), so if you have higher HP than defenses investing EVs in defenses is your best bet.

There's actually calculators online where you can plug in BST, nature, available EVs, nature and "bulk preference" (even or favoring one type of damage reduction) and it will provide the optimum EV spread for balancing.

Toxic is best for battles of attrition and carbink is a beastly tank with shit offense. Toxic does a set amount of damage while moonblast may get laughed at.

I didn't bother training it in Attack since it'll be running Sword Dance in Shield Forme and attacking with Shadow Sneak

Play to its statistic strengths with AVest and bulk, come in on special attackers and KO them back faster than they can KO you.

It's the set that most resembles a sweeper, which should aid in use due to familiarity.

Can also go defensive with your stat spreads, the only change would be:

Draco Meteor
Sludge Bomb/Venoshock

You can get Reset bags by hitting the blank bag when your Pokemon has a ':)' emote next to it. The 'excited buff' greatly increases the chance of finding random bags from the blank bag, and lasts until you decide to use another bag.

Females do pass on size, but the best way that I know of to compare is to simply put 'em side by side.
The Pokedex might show which size is how big; I haven't looked.

Avalugg works pretty well with Sylveon, as Sylveon can take fighting and fire type attacks. Sylveon is also a special wall while Avalugg is a physical one.

There's a shared steel weakness so you may want to stick some steel/fire/water types in there too.

People need to stop doing this. By doing this YOU are put at the disadvantage, not your opponent. Items make too much of a difference to do this. You will see better results if you pick your mega and dedicate the rest of the team to supporting/setting up that Mega for victory.

You are also incredibly Special Attack dependent. Get a physical attacker in there. No hazards of any kind either. Why omit such a potent stable of moves, espeically since you are running a hyper offense team? Put Greninja in as a spiker and mixed attacker. Choose either Mawile or Gengar as your mega. If you get rid of Gengar you can put in something bulky. Maybe a DD Dragonite. If you run Gengar maybe a more dedicated hazards lead instead of Greninja.

Nidoking sees a decent amount of use in UU because its a monster with Sheer Force, and it's only gonna seen more use in Gen 6 thanks to STAB Sludge Bomb/Wave. Slowking is a pretty cool special wall that can also set up Trick Room, but he's generally seen as an inferior Slowbro. I can't vouch for Aerodactyl cause I don't use him, but Mega-Aero might be cool.

They're not top tier viable but they have very good niches in their own tiers.

Got a perfect IV Modest Delphox that knows:

so since this is the meta game general I do want to post this, since I want to try this out. Talonflame's hidden ability checks Blaziken, and amazingly at that. Gale wings give all flying moves increased priority. meaning even if blaziken has 6 stacks of speed boost the priority brave bird has a 100% K.O. rate blaziken would need 380 evs invested into def and Hp to be able to ensure safety. next its random 126 speed can out speed most threats with only 164 evs in speed and a jolly nature it can outspeed even a timid starmie(without scarf of course) and U-turn away. It has priority roost to dodge ice or electric attacks and get some healing in. assuming you have 164 speed 252 attack and 92 in def with lefties you can tank a weavile by roosting. Mamoswine is a tough fight and it can go either way depending on yours/his prediction for EQ vs roost. Im not saying drop everything this bird gives no relents but it may have some niche usage in the meta. of course fireflying +u-turn against sneaky pebbles is gonna be a bad time but hey I didn't say Talonfalme was the godsend blaziken beater.

I think they would both work quite well together as a defensive core. Sylveon covers MegaAggron's fighting and fire weaknesses and can wish ass to compensate for Mega Aggron's lack of recovery.

Mega Aggron can cover Sylveon's Steel and Poison weaknesses nicely, and hits like a freight train to boot.

I'd like a rapid spinner, a spin blocker, a lead, and a sweeper. But I'm at a loss as to which pokes will fill those roles.

So this is probably old news, but just in case: apparently sound based attacks can penetrate Substitute now. This includes shit like Bug Buzz and probably Boomburst, Hyper Voice, Sing and the like.

I'm assuming that's what it is anyway, just had an Intimidate Masquerain hit Protean Greninja through a Sub with Bug Buzz.
